Title: Is He Worthy? The True Test of Faith and Worship

Speaker: Ptr. Jeho Sariego
Scripture Focus: Daniel 3:16-18

To understand why God is worthy of our complete worship, we must look at how we respond when our faith is tested. The world often defines love by temporary feelings or conditional actions. However, true biblical love requires us to give God the final authority in our lives. In the book of Daniel, we find the familiar story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego facing the fiery furnace. This historical event is not just about their courage; it is a profound lesson on why God is worthy of our praise, regardless of our circumstances.

God is Worthy Even When Faith is Tested by Pressure

In Babylon, King Nebuchadnezzar built a massive golden image, demanding that all people bow down and worship it whenever music played. This was not merely about religion; it was about pride, control, and political power. Today, the world may not build physical golden statues, but it creates systems of pressure. We face intense pressure from authority, changing culture, fear, and public opinion.

It is easy to practice selective obedience, serving the Lord only when it is convenient. We often treat our spiritual lives like a smartphone with too many background applications running. We leave God running in the background while we prioritize our comfort or the approval of others. Yet, even when we are pressured to conform to the world, God is worthy of our undivided attention and our exclusive worship.

God is Worthy Even When Deliverance is Not Guaranteed

One of the most powerful statements of faith is found in the response of these three young men to the king.

“If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.” (Daniel 3:17-18)

They knew without a doubt that God had the power to save them. However, their devotion was not conditional. They declared, “But if not.” Even if God chose not to save them from the flames, they refused to bow. True faith does not demand a rescue to remain loyal. When we face sickness, financial ruin, or deep sorrow, we must ask ourselves if we still love Him. We must remember that we love Him because He first loved us, and His worthiness is not based on whether He grants our specific requests.

Worship is Non-Negotiable

Our worship and servitude are exclusive to God alone. We cannot ask the Lord to step down from the throne of our hearts just so we can secure a better job, please a friend, or avoid discomfort. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to negotiate their adoration. They chose the fire over compromise.

God may not always spare you from the fiery furnace of life, but He promises to walk through it with you. Just as a fourth man appeared in the fire with them, the Lord will never abandon you in your trials. Let us examine our hearts today and ensure that He alone sits on the throne of our lives.
